History of LCTMS

This school was founded in August, 1991. In September, the school officially launched its grand opening. Our School Supervisor, Mr. Li Chi Kwong, succeeded his father's will to educate children in Hong Kong . With the approval of the EMB, the school was named " Lee Chi Tat Memorial School ".

LCTMS was originally a half day school. Till February 2003, a new campus was allocated by the EMB. In the same year, the a.m. section was renamed as " Tsang Mui Millennium School " and the p.m. section remained as “ Lee Chi Tat Memorial School ". Both schools turned into whole-day primary schooling.

 

Mission

The mission of LCTMS is to provide “sunshine education” for children, so as to pave the way for whole-person development. We aim at building up children's creativity through pleasant and effective learning. On the foundation of liberal arts education, cordially with the lofty personal character (e.g. self-loved, self-disciplined and autonomy), children are able to develop their lifelong adaptiveness (e.g. the ability of communication, cooperation and self-study), thinking skills (e.g. analysis, problem solving and judgment) and creativity.

We expect that our children are able to innovate, to prepare themselves for changes and contribute to the community as well as being confident and cooperative.

 

Vision

“Sunshine Education” is the main education objective of LCTMS. As our school emphasizes on the “whole person development”, we never give up on any single child. Under the “Sunshine Education”, children obtain comprehensive and balanced learning and reach their full growth. We believe that “If everybody knows how to learn, everybody can achieve what they have learned.”

In the aspect of teaching and learning, our school devotes to develop the curriculum with student-centred approach, multiplex learning as well as creative thinking. With teachers' care, appreciation and support, children tend to highly participate in different areas of study and gain the sense of achievement. As a result, children's initiative and enthusiasm in learning are expedited and induced. These help them to carry on their pleasant and effective learning.

Our school emphasizes on the development of children --- learning to live, grasping the right living attitude and the wisdom of living. These are the foundation of being self-loved, self-disciplined and autonomy. We expect to provide different learning experiences through the curriculum so that the children can be self-loved, self-disciplined and autonomy. Consequently our children treasure their life by learning to exert and strive hard without stop, to know how to manage themselves and to think independently.

The entire school is made up with altogether 30 classes. From Primary One to Six, there are five classes per level with the approximate total number of 1,000 students.

New school premises

Our school premises are based on the 90' s design and the campus is more spacious than that of the standard primary schools.

Sufficient facilities

The school is equipped with 30 classrooms and a number of special rooms such as Music Room, Audiovisual Room, Art Room , Computer Room, Teaching Resources Room, Conference Room, English Language Room, Medical Room, Dancing Room, etc. In addition, there are some more well-constructed facilities such as a huge assembly hall, covered playground, basketball court, indoor playground, the Central Library and the Informational and Cultural Plaza , etc.

All classrooms are air-conditioned.

Catering Education

Our school is honored to invite the well-known nutrition and food expert, Mr. Wai Ling, to be the Catering Consultant. Students are given the opportunities to learn food nutrition, hygiene, environmental protection, culture as well as table manners through daily training.

The campus is full of well-planned afforested achievement which is a mix of human ability and wisdom as well as the natural environment. Studying under this brilliant environment, children are able to enjoy the beauty of the nature and their lifelong environmental protection consciousnesses are raised.

School based teacher professional development

Our school put emphasis on educational research and teaching sharing. Apart from encouraging the teaching staff to continue their studies, the school frequently holds workshops of professional development including seminars on educational reform, meetings of curriculum development and research, etc. All these can promote the quality of teaching.

Qualification of the principal and teachers

Our school principal and teachers are very experienced and have obtained high qualifications. The majority of teachers have got the bachelor degree. Our school principal was awarded a doctorate in philosophy, and some of our teachers have completed or been doing the master degree in education.

School spirit on research and teaching

Our school emphasizes on teaching research and sharing, thus professional development is arranged frequently such as the subject-based curriculum development groups and the shared teaching meeting. All these can enhance the quality of our teaching.

Under the sunshine education, our school principal and teachers show their love, appreciation and sense of success in guiding the children to grow with kindness and love.

Student achievement

There are two aspects in student achievement:

 

Basic achievement

The academic achievements of our students are outstanding. Most of our graduates are promoted to their ideal secondary schools. 52% students are classified as Band 1 students while 32% are Band 2 students.

Achievement characteristic

The characteristics of student's achievement are:
1. great language abilities,
2. good personal character and manner,
3. high creativity.
Therefore our students gain high appreciation from parents and secondary school principals in the aspects of students' academic achievement, overall discipline and ability.

Language aspect

We pay equal attention to both Chinese Language and English Language, particularly their oral skills. We carry out different kinds of language learning programs and activities in order to promote the reading atmosphere. The NET also adopts “activity approach” in which games and activities are used to teach English language.

 

Moral aspect

Our school has employed more counselors, together with the school teachers, to implement the all-round counseling so as to assist the children to develop pleasant character and positive attitude.

 

Creativity aspect

As we devote to develop students' creativity, some creative elements are penetrated into different subjects such as Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics, General Studies, Physical Education, Art, etc. We especially concern to develop students' physical creativity so that the idea of “a person with a skill” can be reached.
